Stunning York Souvenirs to Remember Your Vacation at NYC

My family's first trip to New York when I was fifteen was the first time I vividly remembered "shopping" as a travel activity.

There is nothing else like it anywhere in the world. So, if you're looking for the best New York souvenirs to bring home with you, here are some of my favourites, ranging from authentic takeaway New York gifts to souvenirs from any of the shops in NYC. I purchased souvenirs for my family from a souvenir shop near me, and they were overjoyed to see them.

A unique find at the flea market.

It's not so much about what you want to buy in New York as it is about what you want to experience. And nothing beats bargaining for a one-of-a-kind item at a flea market. Some of my favourite earrings were purchased at the Brooklyn Flea over ten years ago, and I still remember what it was like to purchase them whenever I see them.

There are numerous great flea markets in New York, ranging from the largest to pop-up sidewalk fleas. You'll never be far from a bargain for your next favourite find.

Check out the fantastic used book stores.

Buying used books in New York has a romantic feel to it. You can imagine the books' previous lives and decide whether they were owned by hipsters from Brooklyn, widows from the Upper West Side, or Columbia professors.

And, while most books can now be found on Amazon, there are still a few that were printed in the last few decades but never made it much further than Manhattan.

Look for a subway souvenir from New York.

Every city with public transportation has maps to help people find their way around, but the New York City subway is iconic. I brought a map of the New York subway from my first trip home to display on my bedroom wall (along with my Titanic posters, of course).

But you don't have to stop at the base map (though it's a cool free New York souvenir). Instead, take a cue from the metro system.

All kinds of NYC Metro gifts and souvenirs can be found throughout the city, but the souvenir shop at the MTA Transit Museum is a great place to find unique finds.

Take some classic I Heart NY memorabilia home with you.

That is, indeed, a cliche. But there's a reason it's a cliché. This design, made famous by John Lennon (though I'm not sure he appreciated fame), is possibly the most famous souvenir of any city in the world.

You can get the classic t-shirt, or the design can be imprinted on a shopping bag, bumper sticker, or even a snow globe.

Find out the New York's vintage shops.

Yes, there are excellent antique stores all over the world, but let me tell you why New York's are unique.

Almost any item made anywhere in the world can now be delivered to your door (if you're willing to pay for it). This was not the case ten or twenty years ago. The best, fanciest, and most intriguing items were sold in New York, and they rarely ventured beyond the border triangle.

As a result, New Yorkers' homes are filled with interesting high-quality pieces that are a little worn. Yes, if something needs to be done today, they probably won't be able to make it any easier than you. But what if you want something truly unique or cool from the past? Then you should look into New York.

There are shops located throughout the city. The York shop in which the more neglected the exterior, the more interesting the interior, in my opinion.
